About

Ronna is a birding enthusiast who can frequently be found with a pair of binoculars anywhere she goes. She especially loves Western's proximity to Sehome Arboretum with its rich birdlife and habitat, and regularly birds on the hiking trails, vast agricultural areas, and waterways of Whatcom and Skagit counties. Growing up in the small coastal community of Oysterville in southwest Washington, Ronna's love of nature, playing outside, fresh seafood, gardening, and the importance of community connections was nurtured. It was clear after graduate school in Kansas that she'd wandered too far away from "big water" and she made her way back to Bellingham. Ronna is a Western alum who has worked in higher education for over 30 years and has loved calling Bellingham her "Bellinghome" for the last 26 years.
